Bored Pile Construction — Drilling, Cage Installation and Concrete Pouring
Ding, we're about to start Pile #42 — this is a 24-inch diameter bored pile, 65 feet deep. Run me through the sequence.

丁工: Sure. We've already set the temporary casing — it's 6 feet long, driven through the loose surface soil into firm ground. The auger is ready to go.

Operator, start drilling. Maintain vertical alignment — check the plumb of the Kelly bar every 10 feet.

I want to see at least 20 feet of concrete in the tremie before you start pulling it up. That keeps the seal and prevents contamination.

Static Load Test — Pile Capacity Evaluation
Cai, the static load test on Test Pile TP-01 is set up. The reaction system is ready. Walk me through the test plan.

蔡工: TP-01 is a 24-inch diameter bored pile, 65 feet deep — identical to the production piles. Design working load is 120 tons. We'll test to 240 tons — that's 200% of design load, per ASTM D1143.

We're using the quick load test method. Load increments of 20 tons, each held for 5 minutes. Settlement readings at 1, 2, 4, and 5 minutes per increment.

What's the acceptance criteria?

Two criteria. First: total settlement at 200% design load must not exceed 1 inch. Second: net settlement after unloading must not exceed 0.25 inches — that's less than 3/4 inch per the spec.

(examining the load-settlement curve) The curve shows a well- defined elastic region and very little plastic deformation. The 0.02-inch excess is negligible. In my opinion, the pile meets the performance requirements.

Also, the Davisson method gives an ultimate capacity of 380 tons, giving a factor of safety of 3.2 against the 120-ton design load. That's more than the required 2.5.
