Pile Driving — Installation and QA/QC
Wei, we're starting pile driving for Block 5 today. This is 480 piles for 16 tracker rows — wait, these are fixed-tilt, right? Same piles as the tracker blocks?

魏工: Similar but not identical. The fixed-tilt blocks use C-channel steel piles — C4×5.4 hot-dip galvanized, minimum 5 feet embedment. Design bearing capacity is 4 kips per pile in compression and 2 kips in uplift.
类似但不完全一样。固定支架区用C型钢桩——C4×5.4热浸镀锌,最小入土 深度5英尺。设计承载力每根4千磅抗压、2千磅抗拔。
The pile driving tolerance: position ±3 inches in X-Y, top of pile elevation ±1 inch, plumb within 2 degrees. We use RTK GPS to stake each pile location before driving.

Pile is positioned, plumb OK. Starting drive... 5 feet embed- ment. Last 10 blows: 3 inches — that's 4 blows per inch, or 40 blows per foot. Not refusal — refusal is 10 blows per inch — so bearing is adequate.
魏工: Good. Now check the pile top position with RTK GPS. (measures) X deviation: +1.2 inches, Y deviation: -0.8 inches, elevation: +0.5 inches. All within the ±3/1-inch tolerance. This pile passes.

Piles 1 through 10 in this row look good. Operator, keep going. We'll do QA checks every 20th pile — position, plumb, and driving record.

Wei, what about the piles that hit rock before reaching 5 feet depth? I see two piles in the east end that are shallow.

魏工: Good catch. Pile #17 stopped at 3.5 feet — hit a boulder. I'll mark it for a pull-out test to verify the reduced embedment still meets the uplift requirement. If it doesn't pass, we drill and grout a micropile instead.

Mounting Structure Assembly — Rails, Clamps, and Module Mounting

第一步:立柱安装。钢柱用U型螺栓固定在桩顶上。每根柱用一个水平尺校 垂直,然后用扭力扳手打到45英尺-磅。
第二步:导轨安装。导轨是热浸镀锌C型钢——东西向长26英尺。导轨用螺栓 连在立柱的孔上。每根导轨放上去后先用临时螺丝固定,等一排导轨全部就位、 调好直线度后,再全部打紧。
导轨的直线度公差是多少?如果不直的话,装上组件后会很明显的。
我们用拉线——从第一根立柱拉到最后一根。导轨离线的偏差不能超过3/8英 寸。如果有超差的,我们就调立柱上的椭圆孔。
直线度OK了——现在上组件。组件用4个压块固定——两个中压块、两个边压块。 压块装好后用扭力扳手打紧到12英尺-磅。每块组件装好后用接地片连接组件 框和导轨。
好。每装完一排我抽检——查扭矩、查直线度、查接地连续性。安装班长, 保持节奏——这一排通过。
