Cao, I'm doing the weekly quality walk for the control building. Let's start with the CMU block walls.

曹工: Sure. The exterior walls are 8-inch CMU, fully grouted every 4 feet vertically with #4 rebar. Bond beams at 8-foot height and at the top course. The masonry ties are embedded in every other course.

瓦工工长: Walls were completed last Friday. We're starting the plastering today — base coat on the interior walls.

Before you plaster, let me check the masonry. I want to look at the mortar joints. (uses a joint gauge) Mortar joint is 3/8 inch — spec calls for 3/8 inch. Good.

Let me check the wall plumb. (uses 6-foot level) This section is out of plumb — it's leaning 1/4 inch over 6 feet. The spec allows 1/4 inch in 10 feet. You're over.

曹工: Let me verify... (re-checks) You're right. Foreman, this section between grids C-2 and C-3 needs rework. The bottom three courses are pushing out.

瓦工工长: Understood. We'll take down those courses and re-lay them. That's about 15 blocks. We can fix it this afternoon.

Now the plastering. I see you've started the base coat on the east wall. Show me your mix.

曹工: Base coat is 1:3 cement-sand mortar by volume, with a bonding agent added. Applied at 1/2 inch thickness. We wetted the CMU surface first — good suction control.

The finish coat is 1:4 mix, right? Make sure it's lime-cement mortar for better workability. And the total plaster thickness should be no more than 3/4 inch — too thick and it'll crack.

曹工: Correct. We're using a guillotine to trim the excess and a straightedge to screed it flat. Then light trowel for the final finish. Interior walls get a smooth finish; exterior gets a textured finish for the elastomeric top coat later.

瓦工工长: I'll have the crew fix that wall section first, then continue the plastering this afternoon.

Xue, we're two weeks from building handover. The finishing works are on the critical path. Walk me through where we stand.

薛工: Flooring is 90% done. Ceramic tile in the lobby is complete — 24×24 inch polished porcelain. Epoxy flooring in the electrical rooms is done — the self-leveling went in yesterday and it's curing now. Baseboards go in tomorrow.

And the suspended ceiling?

薛工: The grid is about 80% installed. We're using a 2×2 foot mineral fiber lay-in ceiling system. Main tees are hung from the slab above with 12-gauge hanger wire at 4-foot centers. Cross tees are clipped in at 2-foot spacing.

(to installer) How much of the ceiling tile is in?

安装带班: About 60% of the tiles are laid in. The hold-up is around the column penetrations — we need to field-cut the tiles and install the trim. Each column takes about 20 minutes.

And the lighting fixtures? Are they integrated with the ceiling grid?

薛工: Yes. We have 2×4 foot LED troffer lights that drop directly into the ceiling grid — no extra framing needed. The air diffusers for the HVAC also fit the 2×2 grid. Both are being installed as the tiles go in.

OK. What about doors and windows?

薛工: Exterior windows are all installed — thermally broken aluminum frames with insulated glass units, low-E coating. They were caulked and weather-sealed last week. No leaks in the rain test.

Interior doors: 80% hung. We have solid-core wood doors in offices, fire-rated steel doors in stairwells and electrical rooms. The fire doors have self-closing hinges and intumescent seals — those were inspected yesterday and passed.

Good. The fire marshal inspection is next Tuesday — all fire doors need to be operational by then. What about hardware?

薛工: Door hardware is going in now — locksets, hinges, closers, kickplates, and weatherstripping. The panic bars on the exit doors were installed this morning.

Alright. The priority for the next two days: finish the ceiling tiles, complete the door hardware, and then do the punch list walkthrough with the client on Thursday.
