We started excavation for Tower T-27 at the hilltop location, but we hit weathered rock at only 1.2 meters. The design called for a 3.5-meter deep pad foundation in soil. We can't dig any deeper with the excavator — we need a rock breaker or blasting. What's your recommendation?

Blasting on a hilltop near an existing 132 kV line is too risky — the vibration could affect the adjacent towers. Let's switch the foundation type to rock anchors. We'll core-drill four anchor holes into the rock, install high-strength threaded bars with epoxy grout, and cast a smaller pad cap on top. It's actually cheaper than the original deep pad and takes less concrete. I'll prepare a foundation change request with the revised design calculations.

I'll have the structural calculations and revised drawings by tomorrow noon. In the meantime, mark the anchor positions on the exposed rock, mobilize the core drilling rig, and order the high-strength bars and epoxy. We can start anchor drilling tomorrow afternoon and be ready to pour the cap by Friday. Two days saved compared to waiting for a rock breaker and three days compared to blasting permits. Time is the real cost on this project.

I appreciate the self-check, but my random sampling is independent. Let's start at the bottom section... First ten bolts checked — eight M20 and two M24 — all within spec. Good. The lean must not exceed 1/1000 of the tower height — that's 48 millimeters maximum for this tower.

Confirmed — 22 mm is acceptable. One concern though: I see the anti- theft bolt caps on the lower 8 meters are installed, but the middle section doesn't have them. The spec requires anti-theft measures on all bolts accessible from the ground or by climbing. Please install the remaining caps before I can sign the release for conductor stringing.
